One of the most loved traditions of the Castlerea Rose Festival is making a welcome return in 2026 as our Rose Buds take to the streets once again for the Grand Opening Parade.
The Rose Buds were a huge success when they were first introduced in 2014, 2015 and 2016, bringing colour, excitement and plenty of smiles to the festival. The sight of dozens of young girls proudly wearing their Rose Bud sashes and taking part in the parade quickly became one of the highlights of festival week.
One of the nicest things to see over the years has been the journey of many of our former Rose Buds. Several of the young girls who proudly walked in those early parades have since returned as Rose of Castlerea contestants, including contestants in both 2025 and 2026. It is wonderful to see them come full circle and continue their connection with the festival.
The Rose Buds are open to girls aged 4 to 12 years and will take part in the Grand Opening Parade on Saturday 25th July 2026, which gets underway at 8.00pm.
Every Rose Bud will receive an official sash and enjoy the excitement of being part of one of the biggest and most colourful events of the festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, build confidence and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Once a completed application form has been returned, parents or guardians will receive confirmation as to whether their child has secured a place. As numbers are limited, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that all Rose Buds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the parade.
We can’t wait to welcome a brand new group of Rose Buds to the Castlerea Rose Festival and see them bring even more smiles, colour and excitement to the streets of Castlerea next July. Who knows… perhaps some of them will be our future Roses of Castlerea!
